Smoke Alarm Request

In 2019, the Ottumwa Regional Legacy Foundation awarded The Ottumwa Fire Department $21,000 to install free smoke alarms in any household in Wapello county. The Ottumwa Fire Department will install free smoke alarms up to two per household for those who cannot afford to purchase smoke alarms or for those who are physically unable to install a smoke alarm.

Specialized bedside alarms for individuals who are deaf or hard-of-hearing are also available.
