Operation ReLeaf

The City of Ottumwa partnered with the Iowa Dept. of Natural Resources and Alliant Energy for Operation ReLeaf  –  an opportunity to purchase landscape trees at discount prices in April 2013.  Local residents received 195 trees for planting around the community.

Planting the Right Way

Shade trees provide many benefits such as greater beauty, improved air quality, increased energy savings, increased wildlife diversity and habitat, reduction in noise, increased property values, and the creation of a better place to live.

The key to healthy, attractive trees starts with planting. See this handy tree planting guide for tips on successful planting.

Green Matters

Ottumwa is a Tree City USA under the Arbor Day Foundation’s national program that provides the framework for community forestry management for cities and towns across America. We are fortunate to have a wide variety of tree species in our community.
